Friday, 9 October 2026. This is what changed between Thursday's close and this morning, taken from public data and news reports. It is a list of events and numbers, not a view on where the market goes next: I don't publish levels, targets or trade ideas.
Thursday's session, when the Nifty fell 1.64%, is covered in the post-market report for 8 October.

I did not find Asian index figures I could confirm, so I am not listing them.

AI revenue report hits US chip stocks
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq fell for a second day on Thursday while the Dow ended slightly higher. Yahoo Finance tied the fall to a Financial Times report that OpenAI's annualised revenue was $20 billion lower than earlier estimates. Chipmakers fell: Yahoo Finance reported that the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index was down as much as 4% during the day, with Nvidia, Micron and Intel among the decliners. The 10-year Treasury yield ended at 5.23%.
Oil jumps on Thursday, then slips after Trump's Iran comment
Brent rose 3.9% to $104.07 a barrel on Thursday and November WTI rose 3.7% to $91.53, Yahoo Finance reported. It linked the rise to more attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, Hurricane Isaias threatening output in the Gulf of Mexico, and a 3.2 million-barrel fall in US crude stocks in the week to 2 October. Trading Economics counted nine tankers attacked in and around Hormuz over the past week, and reported that producers had shut in about 500,000 barrels a day, roughly 25% of Gulf of Mexico offshore output.
Prices came off their highs after President Donald Trump said the US would not attack Iran before the November midterm elections, Investing.com reported. By 5:16 AM IST Brent was 0.8% lower at $103.45.
TCS results came out after Thursday's close

According to Upstox, net profit was ₹13,884 crore, up 14.98% from a year earlier, and the company declared a dividend of ₹12 a share with a record date of 14 October. The full numbers are in the post-market report for 8 October.

- Where GIFT Nifty is at 9:00 compared with the 22,363 in this note.
- Whether NSE's own page confirms the 8 October FII and DII figures.
- Brent compared with the $103.45 at 5:16 AM, and the rupee's first quote after Thursday's 96.88 close.
