Monday, 5 October 2026. This is what changed between Thursday's close and this morning, taken from public data and news reports. It is a list of events and numbers, not a view on where the market goes next: I don't publish levels, targets or trade ideas.
Markets were closed on Friday, 2 October, for Gandhi Jayanti, so Thursday was the last session. It is covered in the post-market report for 1 October.

GIFT Nifty is a futures contract, so it is not like-for-like with the Nifty 50. It was 203.05 points above the Nifty's close of 22,421.95 this morning. Asian markets: I did not check them this morning, so I have no figures to report.
I am not printing a WTI price: reported levels differed between sources, and I could not confirm which was right. Reports also gave the 10-year yield as 5.25% and 5.28%, so I am describing it as about 5.3%.

US payrolls rose 29,000 in September
The Associated Press reported that US employers added 29,000 jobs in September, against 162,000 in August, and that the unemployment rate rose to 4.2% from 4.1%. Oil: OPEC+ members hold output, G7 plans a release
The Associated Press reported on 4 October that seven OPEC+ members (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman) agreed to keep production steady in November, and will meet again on 1 November. The same report said Brent crude was above $100 a barrel, and that the Group of Seven had announced plans to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products over the coming weeks. The AP attributed the price rise to the war with Iran, which began on 28 February.
